A groundbreaking research project, published in The Foot (2024), investigated the effect of custom-made, 3D-printed insoles from ZOLES. The study involved 200 recreational runners and was conducted over a 10-week period. Researchers used a randomized, controlled design and intention-to-treat analyses to ensure reliable and realistic results.

Purpose of the research
The aim of the research was to evaluate pain reduction, comfort, and performance improvements among users of ZOLES’ insoles compared to a control group. The results demonstrated a significant reduction in running-related pain, with an average improvement of 42% measured on an 11-point pain scale. Additionally, 85% of participants reported noticeable improvements in comfort, and runners in the intervention group improved their 5-km times by an average of 3%.
The study also documented that the custom insoles help prevent running-related injuries and enhance recovery. The materials and technology behind ZOLES – including the use of 3D scanning and printing – ensure precise and individualized solutions tailored to each user’s needs.
